Qlik Announces Canada Cloud Region to Empower Data Sovereignty and AI Innovation
TORONTO, Sept. 9, 2025 — Qlik, a global leader in data integration, data quality, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI), today announced the upcoming availability of the Qlik Cloud Canada region on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The new region will help Canadian enterprises and public sector organizations ensure the sovereignty of sensitive data, improve performance for real-time decisioning, and operationalize AI with confidence. With Qlik’s cloud running in Canada, customers will be able to move from fragmented data siloes to governed insights and AI workflows without compromising residency requirements.
Increasingly Canadian organizations need to restrict movement of sensitive datasets across borders and expect strong, practical controls. Hosting Qlik Cloud in Canada reduces latency for data integration, analytics and AI workloads while supporting architectures that help meet data residency expectations. This announcement is part of Qlik’s ongoing investment in Canada, complementing a major R&D center in Ottawa, talented workforce, and strong network of partners and customers.
Qlik will also pursue the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (CCCS) Medium assessment for the Qlik Cloud Canada region. Once achieved, Qlik will be able to process, transfer, and store data up to the Medium categorization of information and services for Government of Canada agencies and departments, aligned with Canada’s ITSG-33 requirements.
What the Canada region enables:
- Data residency and sovereignty in Canada for regulated and sensitive workloads
- Lower latency for analytics and AI applications that depend on fresh data
- Governed pipelines and analytics that make AI explainable and auditable across teams
- Open ecosystem on AWS with guidance for migrations and hybrid environments
“Canadian executives are clear. Data sovereignty is a priority, and AI must answer to the business,” said Mike Capone, Chief Executive Officer at Qlik. “Our role is to deliver both. With Qlik’s data and analytics foundations operating in Canada, leaders will turn governed data into accountable decisions at production speed. That combination gives leaders control, performance, and results that stand up to regulators, auditors, and customers.”
The Qlik Cloud Canada region will be available in 2026 for customer onboarding. Existing Qlik customers can engage Qlik to move from on-premises or an existing cloud region. Core Qlik Cloud capabilities for data integration, data quality, analytics, and AI are available in the region, with additional services added on a rolling basis.
The Canada region supports architectures that help organizations meet Canadian data residency requirements while maintaining performance. Customers remain responsible for their compliance posture and should validate obligations across federal and provincial regimes. Qlik’s pursuit of CCCS Medium for the Canada region is intended to support public sector use cases once the assessment is achieved.
