Hortonworks Partners with WANdisco for Multi-Datacenter Hadoop

Oct. 1 — Hortonworks, provider of a popular Apache Hadoop distribution, has teamed up with WANdisco, provider of availability software for enterprises, to announce that the Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) will support WANdisco’s Non-Stop Hadoop technology.

The announcement, the companies explained, addressed enterprise requirements around multi-data center data availability so customers can better leverage Apache Hadoop globally across data centers.

The two companies will jointly go to market to provide integrated solutions built on HDP with full integration of WANdisco’s Non-Stop Hadoop software.

Hortonworks recently entered a reseller agreement with SAP, where german business-software giant will resell HDP with the SAP Hana platform. The company has also recently announced customer wins at Spotify and Xing.

Irfan Khan, senior VP and general manager of big data at SAP, said, “We believe the integration of WANdisco’s active-active replication technology with the Hortonworks enterprise Apache Hadoop distribution makes sense for SAP customers looking to leverage big data.”

David Richards, chairman and CEO of WANdisco, said, “Enterprises are increasingly adopting Apache Hadoop as a core element of their IT infrastructure. The combination of WANdisco, Hortonworks and SAP will provide a reference architecture for Hadoop in the Enterprise.”
