Bloomberg Integrates Natural Language Search Across Terminal Research Content
NEW YORK, June 16, 2025 — Bloomberg today announced plans to launch its new Document Search & Analysis solution which will empower investment professionals and corporate decision makers to ask questions and follow up using everyday language to more easily distill insights across company documents, news, sell-side and independent research reports, internal notes and more. The new research solution will be released to Bloomberg Terminal users by the end of 2025.
Why it’s important to investment professionals: Enabled clients can use the frictionless solution to transform every step of their work, maximize productivity, and unlock insights for unique ideas about companies and industries that matter. They can quickly surface and distill source materials to simultaneously compare companies or hot topics across time horizons, and more seamlessly make inferences with data and analytics that are purpose-built for financial research on the Bloomberg Terminal.
Users can immediately connect and collaborate with the analysts behind the latest market reports in the dynamic new interface via the iconic Instant Bloomberg (IB) chat function, or move their findings into the comprehensive Research Management Solutions (RMS Enterprise) to streamline workflows across their team.
How it works: The solution is powered by Bloomberg’s 40 years of domain expertise and more than 15 years of applying responsible AI in finance. Document Search & Analysis allows clients to ask questions and follow-up using everyday language, instantly surfacing the best content organized into structured, comparative views. Investors can harness AI to quickly explore and pinpoint the info they need from Bloomberg’s vast library of trusted and premium content, as well as their internal research notes. Bloomberg’s comprehensive and high-quality research library includes more than 400 million documents such as:
- Company earnings call transcripts, presentations and filings.
- Fast-breaking media coverage from sources like Bloomberg News which publishes more than 5,000 stories daily.
- Sell-side and other independent research reports, as well as Bloomberg research from Bloomberg Intelligence, BloombergNEF, and Bloomberg Economics, covering thousands of companies, industry trends and economic forecasts.
The big picture: The Document Search & Analysis solution is an evolution of Bloomberg’s AI-Powered Document Insights and complements AI-Powered News Summaries as part of the company’s mission to reimagine the Bloomberg Terminal for the age of AI. Bloomberg will continue to use AI to enhance its research solutions with additional document coverage, product features and integrations to help customers discover actionable insights with a user experience that is easy and comprehensive.

Pablo Riveroll, Fund Manager and Global Head of Equities Research at Schroders, said: “AI technology has the potential to redefine the way we do research and make investment decisions to generate alpha. Since Schroders was an early user in beta testing, we could see how Document Search & Analysis offers a compelling preview of that transformative future.”
Hidekatsu Watanabe, Head of Equity Research, for Japan at Mizuho Securities, said: “In order for us to deliver our unique views to buy-side clients across the globe, we’re constantly monitoring industry trends, absorbing the latest company performance data and refining new investment ideas. We’re pleased to see the development of intelligent technology like Document Search & Analysis, which Mizuho Securities began using on the Bloomberg Terminal in an earlier beta phase, as it can make it easier for investors to discover and explore our research views.”
Romain Faure, Data Scientist at Groupama Asset Management, said: “Bloomberg’s Document Search & Analysis demonstrates strong potential by harnessing AI to unlock Bloomberg’s vast corpus of information directly within the Terminal. With the upcoming integration of news content and support for follow-up queries, it could significantly transform how users access information, turn it into insights and shape their decisions.”
Why it’s important to research teams: Bloomberg’s solutions help transform the research process so clients can add actionable resources to their data and tech stacks for single desktop and via feeds for enterprise-wide use. Clients can optimize their organization so that trusted and consistent data is deeply integrated into research and production workflows, and their unique views are quickly distributed to counterparties. For example:
- RMS Enterprise is designed to drive front-office efficiency, facilitating collaboration around ideas and throughout the investment lifecycle.
- BQuant Desktop helps clients take their analysis to the next level by combining advanced compute power with programmatic access to data and analytics in a secure sandbox environment.
- For teams of quants, research analysts and data scientists, Investment Research Data products offer end-to-end solutions to power workflows. This enables firms to test their investment hypotheses rigorously with granular data across asset classes and deep point-in-time history.
Suzanne Szur, Research & Companies Product Manager at Bloomberg, said: “Our new Document Search & Analysis offering will redefine how investment professionals and corporate leaders engage with information on the Terminal. The product capabilities reflect our deep investment in emerging technology like AI and our commitment to help clients surface insights faster, collaborate seamlessly, and make smarter decisions by extracting more value out of using the Bloomberg Terminal.”
