Dataminr, a real-time AI-powered event detection platform, has introduced Dataminr Intel Agents, an autonomous AI capability designed to provide contextual analysis of emerging events, threats, and risks. As part of the company’s broader Agentic AI roadmap, Intel Agents aim to enhance real-time decision-making.

According to Dataminr, organizations utilizing this new feature gain access to continuously updated insights that integrate both public and proprietary data. This enables them to respond more quickly and effectively to dynamic situations.

The introduction of Intel Agents comes at a critical time when organizations are struggling to keep up with the unpredictable nature of real-time risks. With information moving faster than ever, decision-makers must quickly sort through the noise to understand what matters.

Dataminr’s shift toward autonomous and context-aware intelligence reflects the broader trend of AI-powered solutions playing a more central role in crisis response and risk management. Some experts argue that event-driven architectures will play a key role in scaling intelligent agents.

The Dataminr Intel Agents are built on top of ReGenAI, a feature of Dataminr’s AI platform introduced in 2024. ReGenAI dynamically rewrites and refreshes real-time alerts as new data comes in, helping users stay ahead of fast-moving developments.

Building on this foundation, Intel Agents leverage Dataminr’s proprietary language models and extensive event data archives to autonomously analyze emerging risks in real time. They track unfolding events, determine where to find relevant context, and process new data to generate clear and concise updates. This allows organizations to respond more effectively to emerging risks, giving them a more informed view of fast-moving developments.

“When Dataminr’s AI Platform detects the earliest indications of events, risks, and threats, Intel Agents are tasked with autonomously determining the additional context that’s needed, where to look for it, and how to best synthesize what they find into concise text,” said Alex Jaimes, Dataminr’s Chief AI Officer. “The unique decision-making capabilities of Agentic AI, powered by Dataminr’s proprietary LLMs and AI Platform, enable new innovations that were never before possible.”

The first deployment of Intel Agents is underway in Dataminr Pulse for Cyber Risk, where the tool will be used to enhance cybersecurity threat intelligence. The aim is to reduce the need for manual research and analytics to help speed up decision-making and threat response. Dataminr shared that it plans to introduce Intel Agents in other products, including the Dataminr First Alert – a real-time critical event discovery solution.

Intel Agents are currently in private beta with select customers. General availability is expected in early Q3 2025.

Earlier this week. Dataminr announced $100M convertible financing from funds from Fortress Investment Group. In March 2025, Dataminr secured $85M in funding from HSBC and Night Dragon.

Eric Spector, Managing Director at Fortress, underscored Dataminr’s growing role in providing essential real-time intelligence, noting its increasing value across industries. “We believe Dataminr has significant growth potential as its products are increasingly table-stakes for organizations and other users who rely on accurate real-time information to swiftly respond to physical, digital, and cyber threats and developments,” said Spector. “As such, we believe this investment in Dataminr presents a compelling opportunity for Fortress.

A key focus for Dataminr is to use the funds to advance its Agentic AI roadmap. This includes a Client-Tailored Context that offers personalized insights by integrating client-specific data into reGEnAI event briefs. The tool is designed to automatically refine real-time information based on the client’s unique operations and risk profile. This feature is expected to be announced later this year.

Another key item on the roadmap is PreGenAI, a feature that combines Agentic AI and GenAI to predict future scenarios and generate forecasts on how events could unfold. Dataminr claims this tool will allow organizations to anticipate and plan ahead so they can proactively respond to events.  PreGenAI is trained on 15 years of historical data, using this extensive archive to refine its predictive capabilities and enhance decision-making.

Dataminr’s solutions are not just about corporate risk. The company has deep relations with U.S. national security and intelligence agencies like the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense. We could see some of Dataminr’s new AI-powered solutions used by federal agencies.

In recent years, Dataminr has faced scrutiny for its role in real-time surveillance, particularly regarding law enforcement monitoring of protests. Reports from The Intercept in 2020 and 2021 alleged that the company’s technology was used to track demonstrations, raising concerns about privacy and civil liberties. As Dataminr pushes further into Agentic AI and predictive intelligence with PreGenAI, the ethical stakes are getting even higher.

Whether Dataminr’s use of AI will significantly alter how organizations and government agencies respond to emerging threats remains to be seen. Still, it marks a notable evolution in real-time data analysis and intelligence gathering.
